Want to learn how to sketch the world around you but don’t know where to start? As part of our adult summer reading program, White Lake Community Library welcomes artist Mary Jo Ernst on Wednesday, July 19th, from 5:30-7:30 for a beginner’s class exploring the world using ink and paper. We will use Urban Sketch techniques of drawing on location and capturing a moment in time. Students will learn the anatomy of a sketch using different line making techniques to create a dynamic piece through instruction and a demo by Mary Jo. The last portion of the class will have independent time for students to create their own sketches from subject matter of their choice. Materials for the class will be provided. Space is limited, so registration is required at wlclib.org/calendar.
MJ Ernst is a creative who wears many hats. She has been teaching sketching and ink classes in Chicago and the White Lake area for the past five years. Regardless of the medium, whether it’s fabric, paints or mixed media, her creations are light with a sense of whimsy. MJ currently resides in West Michigan and looks forward to sharing her talent and skills with the community and encourages everyone to try something new. It is never too late! Let’s sketch together!
