Wintertime in the White Lake Area is truly a snowy, sparkling sight to behold. Whether you’re looking for exciting outdoor adventure or would just like to cozy up with a good book by a warm fire, you’ll find a winter haven that’s perfect for your pace.
Throughout our area, many popular winter recreational activities abound. Head out and try your skill at cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing, go sledding with your family down Hanson Hill, ice skate in Montague’s downtown outdoor rink, take a group out for a day of ice fishing, or explore hiking trails through softly falling snow. It’s all right here in the White Lake Area.
The Muskegon Luge features an array of impressive winter sports activities for you and your family to enjoy. Rent skis, snow shoes, or sleds and spend the day in a winter wonderland of adventure. Unique is the lighted ice skating trail through the woods and one of only four luge tracks in the United States. At speeds of up to 30mph, you can learn to luge on their 850′ track, which was designed for those who have never tried luging. And when your heart rate slows, warm up by the fire inside the rustic chalet.
Once snow begins to fall, our bike trails take on a different role. Trails are groomed and snowmobilers are welcomed into the White Lake Area. And after a long day out, snow sleds are free to drive right into town on Colby Street. It’s a great place to grab a bite, a craft beer at a local pub or brewery, local shopping, or gather with friends at the community fire pit a North Mears Road in downtown Whitehall.
When you’re looking to trade the cold and snow for a bit of heat and relaxation, check out our many comfortable accommodations — several of which feature restful Jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces to enjoy.
Don’t forget to explore our White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau Events Calendar for continued events and activities throughout the winter.
