The White Lake Area is home to two great social districts in downtown Montague & downtown Whitehall.
What is a social district?
A designated area where you can purchase alcohol (for those 21+) in specially marked cups from participating restaurants, pubs, and breweries. These drinks can be enjoyed outside within the boundaries of the social district.
Downtown Montague
The downtown Montague social district opened in May of 2024. It is located in Weathervane Lane, the alley between Dowling and Spring. It’s a great outdoor spot for lunch or dinner, as well as being the perfect location for their new social district.
Participating businesses include: The Book Nook & Java Shop, Jimmy’s Pub, North Grove Brewers, and Sawyers Brewing Company
Hours are Monday-Thursday, 5-10pm, and Friday-Sunday, 12-10pm.
For more information, please contact the City of Montague.
Downtown Whitehall
The downtown Whitehall social district opened in July of 2022. It is located in the N. Mears Promenade (take Mears all the way north until it ends). It overlooks White Lake, has a great sunset view, and a community fire pit that is on during the colder months.
Participating businesses include: Fetch Brewing Company and Pub One Eleven
Hours are Sunday, 12-10pm, Monday-Wednesday, 2-11pm, and Thursday-Saturday, 12pm-12am.
For more information, please contact the City of Whitehall.
Socialize Responsibly
The White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau does not run or oversee either of the downtown social districts. For questions or more information, please contact the City of Montague. (231-893-1155) or the City of Whitehall (231-894-4048).
