Here's What's Happening in the White Lake Area This Week!

All of a sudden, Memorial Day weekend is coming up now! In many ways, it feels like the official kick off to summer. Fetch Running Group

Join the Fetch Running Group every Monday at 6:00 PM for an inclusive, all-levels run/walk. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, just starting out, walking, or bringing a stroller, everyone is welcome to participate at their own pace and distance.

Enjoy a supportive, encouraging group atmosphere, plus $1 off your first drink after the run (non-alcoholic options or just some refreshing water is also available).

Come to run, walk, or simply connect with others!

Homeschool Days – The Power of Water @ Lakeshore Museum Center

This hour and a half program will invite homeschooling families to explore the museum with activities at a variety of age levels around our monthly theme/topic.

We will have time as a large group for an introduction to each theme and then families will be welcome to explore the activity stations and the museum on their own.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY

“Small But Mighty” acrylic painting on a 2″x3″ canvas with small easel included. On May 19, 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with instructor Diana Hicks, learn about the horizon line, center of interest, using a limited palette to create colors and using appropriate brush strokes. History of the Boy Scouts in the White Lake Area

Join the White Lake Area Historical Society for a presentation on the History of Boy Scouts in the White Lake Area, presented by longtime Scoutmaster and former local Boy Scout Brian Holmblade.

Brian will share the story of Scouting in the White Lake Area from its beginnings in 1920 through today, covering:

  • Early Boy Scout activity in the area
  • Growth of Scouting in Whitehall and Montague
  • Sea Scouts and Troop 48 history
  • Local Eagle Scouts and troop activities
  • Historic scout camps including Camp Gerber, Camp Owasippe, Camp Wabeningo, and Camp Shawondossee
  • Opportunities for girls beginning in the 1970s

Memorial Day Service

The White Lake VFW Post 3256 in Montague and the Whitehall American Legion Algot Johnson Post 69 will march from their towns and meet up at Covell Park along the causeway by 11am for a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 25.

Both groups will honor memorial posts along the route.

*Please note, the ceremony starts by 11am, so it could start shortly beforehand. Plan accordingly to be along the route or at Covell Park ahead of time.
