Summer is officially winding down, school is returning, and somehow the fall temperatures snuck in a bit earlier than usual. While end of summer traditions are upon as we head into Labor Day weekend already, the fun doesn’t have to end! Here’s a glimpse at what’s going on, but click here  to view our full calendar of events.

Music Bingo at Jimmy’z Pub

Come jam out with us every Monday with music bingo from our friends at DJ Bingo of Oceana County! As songs clips play, mark them off your sheet and WIN! There are multiple chances to win and all song titles and artists are displayed on our TVs so no need to strain the memory trying to remember who sang that one song… (cell phones are also welcome). Plus enjoy Dollar PBR drafts all day!

Playtime Power Hour @ The Montague Library

Join us for a fun, informal, play-based program that allows your child(ren) to explore different play stations around the library. We will focus on playing, talking, singing, reading, and writing which are components that help children get ready to read. Ages 0-5. Registration required.

Felted Songbirds

Learn a brand new art form and create a cute 3D songbird using wool and a felting needle. You will build it from the core, add the color, and make the legs and beak. This class will provide the foundational knowledge needed to create more songbirds. You will also see several possibilities for how to display them.

Class minimum: 4

Class maximum: 10

About the Instructor:

Marie Essenberg has been a nature and wildlife artist for 50 years and nature is where her soul thrives and roots connect. She has used many mediums to create detailed artwork such as oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite, colored pencil, pen and ink, acrylic, and scratchboard. Over the years her work has been shown at many galleries and art shows in several states.

ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported by CatchMark Technologies, Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.

Afternoon Hang @ The White Lake Library

Join a fun group of tweens (ages 10+ invited) on Friday afternoons. Make new friends, do some crafts, play some games, eat some snacks, or just hang out. Each week we’ll have the Switch and the VR headset out for gaming as well. See you there!

White Lake VFW Post 3256 Poker Run

Come and join us in the 2025 Poker Run Event. This is a bicycle event but you can use any mode of transportation. Rain or shine it is $10. Half of the funds go to the top best poker hands, and the other half goes to the Grand Rapids Veterans Home for the angle tree.

Time: 11:00AM to 5:00 PM

Registration: 11:00 to 11:45 PM

There will be a bake sale starting at 11:00PM. We will also have shirts available for purchase. Food will be provided.

2025 Labor Day Community Walk

The White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau (WLACVB), along with the City of Montague and City of Whitehall, host our 19th Annual Labor Day Community Walk on September 1st at 10 am, giving Michiganders an opportunity to participate in this walking tradition.

The Labor Day Community Walk begins at the Hart-Montague Bike Trailhead (at the east end of Spring Street located behind Whitehall Products and Montague Foods in Montague), where city officials and area leaders walk with the people of the community across the White River Bridge to the WLACVB depot located at 124 W. Hanson in Whitehall. Walkers are more than welcome to continue on the path, turn around, or stay for healthy refreshments!
