Here's What's Happening in the White Lake Area This Week!

Spring is in full swing, and there’s plenty happening around the White Lake Area! From local happenings to ways you can pitch in and make a difference (hint: Trash Bash is coming up April 27!), we’ve got the scoop on what’s going on this week. Bring Your Pot to Fetch.

Yup – you read that right. Typically we celebrate on 4/20, but since 4/20 falls on Easter Sunday this year, we’re doing 4/20+1 and celebrating on 4/21! So, 4/21 is Bring Your Pot to Fetch Day, and we cannot wait to sample all of your Crock Pot cuisines! Fetch will provide bowls, plates, utensils and outlets. YOU bring your Crock Pot and serving spoon and add it to the buffet! Come hungry because this event always provides!

Auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

The White Lake Dramatic Club is hosting auditions for the 2025 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Performances are July 25, 26 and 27 and August 1, 2, 3, 2025. Shows are at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday as well as at 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. These are volunteer performance opportunities as part of the Summer Theatre Festival within the historic community theatre of the White Lake Dramatic Club. Get ready for a dazzling, fun-filled ride with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This upbeat, family-friendly musical brings the biblical story of Joseph to life with catchy tunes, vibrant costumes, and a whole lot of heart. From the infectious Any Dream Will Do to the show-stopping Go, Go, Go Joseph, the score is packed with hits that will have you tapping your toes all night long. Filled with humor, colorful characters, and spectacular dance numbers, this high-energy production will leave you smiling and singing along. It’s a spectacular, feel-good show that’s perfect for audiences of all ages. Auditions Dates: Please arrive by the start of auditions and plan to stay until dismissed. April 22: 6:00 to 9:00pm
April 23: 6:00 to 9:00pm Planned Rehearsal Schedule: Monday-Thursday, beginning June 9-July 17 from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. CHILDREN’S CHORUS WILL MEET ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS FROM 7:30pm to 8:30pm until closer to the show week, when rehearsals increase.
Tech Week is July 21-24- Load in is on Monday and the first tech rehearsal will be on Tuesday.

CHARACTERS: NARRATOR – An actress with a strong rock singing voice (high best to E full range Mezzo) who is strong on comedy and moves well. Tenor vocalist if played by a male performer.
JOSEPH – Tenor. The eleventh son of Jacob. Obviously his father’s favourite, Joseph early on shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. This gets him into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. However, it saves his life when in Egypt he correctly interprets Pharaoh’s dreams. In the end he has risen to a great position of power, but he still forgives his brothers and brings his family to Egypt to partake of the bounty he has accumulated there.
JACOB – JOSEPH’s father. An actor in his 50’s/60’s with a baritone voice.
JOSEPH’S BROTHERS – Eleven brothers with strong singing voices, the ability to dance, and contrasting body types and ethnicities. Requires featured solo brothers for Country and Western style in “One More Angel in Heaven,” Jacques Brel/Maurice Chevalier style for “Canaan Days,” two brothers to double the BUTLER and BAKER, and a strong dancer with partnering ability (Adagio) in “The Apache.”

JUDAH – Sings Harry Belafonte style in “Benjamin Calypso” POTIPHAR – A Noel Coward type character. Baritone. Can be played by the actor playing JACOB.

BUTLER – Tenor/Baritone, played by a brother. Character role with a look that contrasts with the BAKER.
BAKER – Tenor/Baritone, played by a brother. Character role with a look that contrasts with the BUTLER.
PHAROAH – Good actor/singer with Tenor/Baritone range. Elvis Presley impersonator type who moves well. ENSEMBLE
Chorus (Boys & Girls)* – Sopranos (to High C), Mixed male ranges (Low A to High A, Basses down to E). Minimum of 11 girls to play the wives of JOSEPH’S BROTHERS, including a strong female dancer with partnering ability (Adagio) in “The Apache.” Youth Choir will be students ages 8-16. What to Prepare: 32 count of a Broadway song something that shows off your vocal style – adults and kids. Please bring your sheet music or a track to follow. Wear comfortable clothes to move in. Video Auditions will be Accepted: due by Monday, April 21 at 5:00pm. Prepare 32 counts of a Broadway show that shows off your vocal style. On Tap & Uncorked

On Tap & Uncorked is a multi-sensory tasting event with an artistic twist. This 21+ event invited you to explore the galleries and exhibitions while tasting artfully crafted beer, wine, cider, and food from West Michigan.

Food and drink are only allowed in the lower and upper grand hall and the two new galleries hosting this year’s Expressions: Student Art Exhibition. Guests will not be allowed to enter other galleries with food and drink.

Trash Bash 2025

Gear up for Trash Bash on Sunday, April 27, sponsored by Consumers Energy!

The White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau needs your help to clean up our bike trails, shorelines, and waterways. We need all hands on deck, especially those with waders, kayaks, or canoes.

This event is great for individuals, families, and groups. All ages welcome!

Join us at the Depot (124 W Hanson in Whitehall) at 1:00 pm, ready with sunscreen, gloves, and hats. We’ll provide the trash bags and the plan.

No need to RSVP, just come ready to make a difference!

Additional Information:

**FREE BIKE & KAYAK RENTALS:
Please note–WaterDog Outfitters will offer free bike rentals for those looking to clean up the trails, and free kayak rentals for those looking to clean up the waterways. To rent a kayak, individuals must be prepared for cold water and dressed warmly with dry suits.

The Gnarly Heifer will be stationed at WaterDog Outfitters with their bullpen, their food tent, and will be selling food from 12:00pm-4:00pm. A perfect pre-Trash Bash lunch, or post-Trash Bash meal option!

For our 21+ Trash Bash participants, you can bring your full bag of garbage over to Jimmy’z Pub (alley side) and turn it in for a special raffle!

Special thanks to Walmart for donating trash bags and granola bars, and Knight Transfer for donating a refuse container!
