Excitement continues to build for this year’s 9th annual White Lake Chamber Music Festival, bringing in exceptional talent and great music to the White Lake area from August 3 – 12!   Mark your calendars for the annual “Friends of the Festival” Concert at the Wheaton’s Home. This June 22 concert will feature the Lee Cello Duo - Avalon String Quartet’s Cheng-Hou Lee and his wife Anna Sanders Lee. Great food, great music, and great friends can be expected! Tickets are on sale at the Book Nook & Java Shop and Eventbrite.   The first two evening concerts will be celebratory in nature – opening on August 3 with the Festival Brass, a large ensemble featuring some of the best West Michigan brass musicians in antiphonal and ensemble playing. The annual Baroque Concert takes center stage on August 4, featuring the Festival String Chamber Orchestra. Both opening concerts will be at Muskegon’s 1st Congregational Church.   The Chicago based Avalon String Quartet returns as our Resident String Quartet performing Mozart’s String Quartet in D Major, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8, the Grieg String Quartet, Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 1, and the Beethoven String Quartet No. 9.   One very special addition to this year’s schedule will be a Piano Sonata evening, featuring the brilliant Chicago Symphony pianist, Patrick Godon, on August 8.   Because of the generous underwriting of John and Mary Loeks, the renowned Buswell - Ou Duo - James Buswell, violin and Carol Ou, cello, will perform pieces by Gliere, Bach, Ysaya, and Kodaly on August 10. Youth programming features a new partnership with the Heritage Museum and the West Michigan Symphony, plus the normal Children’s Festival events.   Free Salon Concerts are among the many highlights of the week. Great talent will be featured daily at 4:30 p.m. at the Book Nook and Java Shop. Guest artists include the Deco Piano Trio, Piano 4-Hands, the Vavrikova Wind Trio, the Vireo Trio, and Pablo Mahave-Veglia, cello and Sookkyung Cho, piano.   The Festival always ends with a themed Gala Dinner. This year on August 12, a Hungarian Gypsy theme will feature Michael Schaeffer, accordionist – back by popular demand! This is sure to be fun and a great way to celebrate a successful 9th season!   For more information, please visit www.whitelakemusic.org or call 231-329-3056. All events are free unless otherwise marked.  Tickets, when required, can be purchased at The Book Nook and Java Shop and on line at Eventbrite.com Saturday, July 21 7:30 pm Concert: Jazz at the Swan White Swan Inn $15 [post_title] => Concert: Jazz at the Swan [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => closed [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => concert-jazz-at-the-swan [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2018-06-08 18:09:26 [post_modified_gmt] => 2018-06-08 23:09:26 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://www.whitelake.org/?post_type=tribe_events&p=14396 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => tribe_events [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw [EventStartDate] => 2018-07-21 19:30:00 [EventEndDate] => 2018-07-21 19:30:00 )
