What happens when convenience, social media, and technology begin to reshape our ideas of privacy?

Explore these timely questions during a discussion of The Circle by Dave Eggers on Wednesday, October 14, at 5:30 p.m. at White Lake Community Library.

This book discussion is part of a Big Read Lakeshore series of events exploring technology, privacy, and our increasingly connected world. Begin with the book discussion, continue the conversation during a hands-on workshop, “Following Your Digital Footprint,” on Wednesday, October 28, and experience the story on screen during the library’s film screening on Wednesday, November 11, at 5:30 p.m. The series culminates with an opportunity to hear Dave Eggers speak live at the Frauenthal Center on November 17.

Pick up a discussion guide beginning September 14th at the library, and request a copy of the book if you’d like to join the discussion. More events are happening across the county: Big Read 2026.

Share your perspectives on the novel’s thought-provoking themes of technology, privacy, surveillance, and the impact of living in a connected world. Register for this event or any of the series at wlclib.org/calendar.
