Don’t be scared of portraits! Creating artwork of your self, friends or family can be creative and exciting. In this class we will start with a photograph, and build a fun portrait using a variety of mixed media. “Break apart a face” and put it back together using parts of the photo, ink, paint, pencil, collage, etc. Instruction will be given on how to use various materials, and direction will be provided on how to develop creative and artistic ideas. Ages 12-18.

About the Instructor:
Laurel Geis has lived in the White Lake area for 29 years. She taught Art in public schools for 30 years before retiring. She is an active artist, working primarily in painting and drawing, and her work has been widely exhibited in sites like the Muskegon Museum of Art and the Arts Council of White Lake – Nuveen Center.
