Sous Bois, the Small Landscape in Gouache

March 23, 2023, 6:00 am - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:00 am on Thursday, repeating until March 30, 2023

$45

Ages 16+

$45, $40.50 for ACWL-Nuveen members

In this two-session class we will explore two ideas; the first signs of spring (those little buds peeking through the snow), and the paint medium gouache (the great paint with the funny name).

Many artists pursued the small, quiet moments in landscape in addition to the large grand scenes. These smaller scenes lend themselves well to gouache, a waterbased paint that is much like watercolor, but opaque like acrylic. Let’s explore the small landscape, and discover this unique material. Appropriate for all levels, although some painting experience is helpful.

Students should bring inspiration photos from home or scenes/sketches from nature. You can email them to nuveen@artswhitelake.org before class if you’d like them printed!

Class minimum: 4

Class maximum: 10
