SOAPSTONE CARVER Coming to White River Rock Club Meeting

We are delighted to have John and Sally Hoskins, from Grand Rapids, as our presenters for the October 5 Meeting that starts at 7:00 pm at St James Lutheran Church located at 8945 Stebbins St Ste B, Montague, MI 49437. Our flag will be flying outside so you can spot us.

John starts with a rough outline which he turns into a beautiful carving of a bear or a loon—both of which are beautiful! He encourages everyone, especially children, to touch the soapstone, and provides chances to do so. Sally is right by his side to help field questions about the process.

They will have a presentation, carving demonstration, items for sale, and everyone who comes to the meeting will get a piece of soapstone to take home. You will also have an opportunity to carve soapstone, right there, too!

Meetings are open to everyone. They is no membership fee assessed for your first visit, but after that, we hope you will join our great little White River Rock, Gem, and Mineral Club. We have such a good time with new things happening each month, and other opportunities for field trips and children’s programming!

Hope to see you there!
