Embark on a journey of creativity and connection with nature in our handmade pine needle basket class. Pine needle basketry is a time-honored tradition that allows you to transform natural materials into beautiful and functional works of art. In this class you’ll learn coil weaving, one of the oldest used weaving techniques.
You’ll begin by exploring the materials and tools required for pine needle basketry. You’ll learn how to responsibly harvest and prepare pine needles, as well as select complementary threads and embellishments to enhance your designs. You’ll discover various weaving and stitching techniques that will allow you to create baskets of different shapes and sizes. You are encouraged to bring any items you wish to incorporate into your basket allowing you to personalize it with your own creativity and intention. By the end of the class, you’ll have crafted your own unique pine needle basket as you spend the time learning the rhythm and meditative quality of weaving. Join us and embark on a journey of creativity and craftsmanship as we weave together the beauty of pine needles into unique and cherished baskets.
