By working from observation, students will experiment with different brush, color, and surface techniques that push a looser-of-level finish within the structure of traditional still life painting. We’ll explore the conceptual role of abstraction within contemporary painting by looking at artists who utilize varying levels of articulation in their work, and students will leave with a painting made from observation.
