Be part of the Lakeshore Big Read at White Lake Community Library on Monday, November 13th, at 5:30pm for a community discussion of Yaa Gyasi’s award-winning novel Homegoing, which follows the descendants of two half-sisters—Effia and Esi—who are born in 18th-century Ghana.
Born in Ghana and raised in Alabama, Gyasi will take the Jack H. Miller Concert Hall at Hope College at 7pm to reflect on the personal experiences that inspired her to write her breathtaking debut novel Homegoing and explore the complexities and intersections of African immigrant and African-American identities in the United States today. We’ll watch Gyasi’s talk live on the library’s big screen.
