Fountain Pens & Ink
March 21, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$35
$35, $31.50 for ACWL-Nuveen members
This class will be a deeper dive into ink sketching and will focus on using fountain pens to make your mark. We will discuss various pen styles, ink properties, line making and the important of using the right paper.
After instruction and demos, students will have ample time to use fountain pens and ink to test out and practice their line making. There will be a full Q&A to cover any questions students may have of this art technique.
For beginners and especially anyone who has taken any of MJ’s prior ink sketching classes, this class deepens exploration. Some drawing experience is helpful, but beginners are welcome too!
Students will like with a fountain pen and ink to take home. Paper used in class is being donated by Hahnemuehle.
Class minimum: 4
Class maximum: 10
About the Instructor:
Mary Jo (MJ) Ernst grew up in West Michigan and has been sketching her whole life. She uses all types of mediums in her artwork. Ink, especially solubles, is her preferred choice for quick sketching. Her sketch style is whimsical and impressionistic. MJ encourages anyone, all skill levels, to pick up a pen, pencil or brush to get started and make a mark!
