Muskegon Community College instructor Christopher Shields will teach students all about the color wheel and how to properly mix and understand the relationships color has with basic art and design principles. In this 3-session class, participants will explore color through various mediums including ink, tempera, and acrylic paint and will gain confidence in understanding how to identify, create, and use color effectively.

About the Instructor:
Christopher Shields is a painter and college professor who lives and works in Muskegon and Grand Rapids. A native to Michigan, He obtained his undergraduate degree from Kendall College and his graduated degree from Minneapolis College of Art & Design. He has exhibited nationally and most recently took home a major prize for his work in 2023’s ArtPrize competition. His work is primarily figurative drawing, painting and digital photography with an emphasis on graphic design elements and color.
