Cry for Help: Life and Death as a Stay-At-Home Dad

August 8, 2025 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Comedian and playwright Brandon “Bubba” Ogborn presents “Cry for Help: Life and Death as a Stay-At-Home Dad,” a one-man show about family, faith, and finding yourself in the chaos. From prank-calling strangers as CIA agents and being homeschooled in a religious cult to rubbing shoulders with Hollywood legends and auditioning for America’s most famous sketch show, Brandon’s life as a professional oversharer has been anything but ordinary. As a stay-at-home dad to a pair of chaos-creating children, Ogborn recently lost his own father, Bert — an idiosyncratic and confounding character who spent decades working on his proudest achievement: a board game about — you guessed it! — the late conservative radio host, Rush Limbaugh. Wrestling with the loss, uncovering family secrets, and navigating the surprises of middle-aged medical care, Ogborn discovers that parenting and grief are basically the same thing–they’re exhausting, disorienting, and everyone has an opinion about how you’re doing it wrong. Presented like the world’s most emotionally devastating family slideshow–complete with home videos, photos, and the awkward charm of a 1980s living room presentation–Ogborn blends razor-sharp storytelling with just enough vulnerability to make you laugh until you cry.
