A Culinary Perspective on Climate
February 10, 2022, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
You’re invited to join chef, educator, and author Laura Stec as she virtually presents “Solutions to Global Warming – A Culinary Perspective” on Thursday, Feb. 10th, at 7pm for the White Lake Community Library. Attendees at the Zoom program will be entered into a drawing for a free copy of Chef Laura’s book Cool Cuisine: Taking the Bite Out of Global Warming.
Global warming/climate change has become a defining scientific, political and social issue of our era. Interest has spurred reduction of carbon “foot-prints,” but not much on reducing carbon “food-prints,” the effect that our industrial food system has on global warming. This talk tackles the issue, focusing on how food impacts climate change and what you can do about it. Chef Laura Stec talks solutions through a “culinary perspective,” introducing ideas such as “soil as a seasoning agent,” “plastic and water pairing,” “energetics of high-vibe foods.” A mini culinary “how-to” class completes the presentation.
Originally from Michigan, Chef Laura Stec is a corporate wellness educator of 20 years, working with Silicon Valley’s top companies. Her work has been featured on NPR, and in Martha Stewart, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, and numerous local and national media sites.
