Built in 1878 by John C. Lewis, The Lewis House survives today as it did back then, perhaps the most stately Victorian home in Whitehall, MI. One of the few Michigan bed and breakfasts listed on the National Register of Historic Places, our home is authentic through and through yet modernized to provide you, our guest, with all the comforts and amenities you expect.
The Lewis House Bed & Breakfast is situated on a bluff overlooking beautiful White Lake and has amazing views of the sunset. It is within walking distance of the charming downtowns of Whitehall and Montague with great restaurants, shops and a micro-brewery. The historic Howmet Playhouse is right next door and the Hart-Montague bike and walking trail is just across the street.

The Lewis House Bed & Breakfast has gone through an extensive 6-year bottom-to-top renovation designed to ensure your comfort and to restore the home to its original grandeur with all the charm and elegance of the late Victorian period. All of our second-floor guest rooms are neatly appointed and all have their own spacious private bathroom, individual climate control, high ceilings, large, original windows and hardwood floors. On the main floor, both the parlor and the lounge are furnished with quality and comfort in mind. You will want to cozy up with a book, magazine or your tablet and stay awhile!
Each morning you can expect a delicious breakfast served in the formal dining room or the more private banquet room. We source fresh organic produce and meats locally as often as possible, prepare them magnificently, and serve you graciously. Dietary restrictions are happily accommodated and seconds are always available. The rooms are so comfortable that you might be tempted to sleep till noon – but you simply won’t want to miss breakfast!
