The mission of the Child Abuse Council of Muskegon County is to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect through education, child advocacy and community collaboration. Our vision is to eradicate abuse. We can’t do it alone and need your help through volunteering, advocating and raising funds to support the services we provide in three areas:
1) Prevention through Education: Prevent abuse before it starts by educating children and adults how to keep themselves safe and seek help. Our initiatives in Baby Think It Over, Stewards for Children, and the Internet Safety Collaborative reach more than 20,000 people every year.
2) Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA): Trained volunteers that serve as the voice for the child during abuse and neglect proceedings.
3) Children’s Advocacy Center: A place and a process for sexually abused children that minimizes trauma for the family. Forensic interviews, free medical exams, counseling and court preparation services. Using a community collaboration model, this unique service provides care to turn child victims into survivors.
