Lunch and Learn Series-Medicare 101

Our Medicare 101 workshop will help you to better understand how Medicare works. If you are new to Medicare or already have Medicare, we can help you understand the process and tell you about what programs exist to help with costs of prescription drugs and premiums. There will be time for our Medicare counselor to answer any questions you may have. The Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program is a volunteer program and is not affiliated with any insurance company MMAP is a statewide program that provides health benefits counseling free of charge to Medicare beneficiaries and their families, and conducts community outreach and education about Medicare health benefits and MMAP services. Summer Ain’t Over Yet!

School may have started, but the summer ain’t over yet!

HarborLight Credit Union sponsors an end-of-summer mini-series of outdoor concerts at the beautiful gazebo at Goodrich Park in Whitehall! Come out and enjoy these FREE concerts on September 5, 12, 19th. Bring your folding chair or picnic blanket and simply, enjoy the show. Montague Farmer’s Market

The Montague Farmer’s Market is located on the southeast corner of Church Street and Water Street, one block south of the stoplight in Montague.

The Farmer’s Market opens the first Saturday in June and runs every Saturday through the last Saturday in October. The Market is also open on Wednesdays in June, July, August, and September. Market hours are from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Farmer’s Market is overseen by the Downtown Development Authority and permits local vendors to sell fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers and plants. Any farmer or baker who is interested in selling goods at the Market should contact Montague City Hall at 893-1155 to check if any booths are available.

Fetch Cycling-Group Ride

Join the Fetch Cycling Group every Thursday at 6pm. Leave from Fetch and join the group that meets your fitness level (all ages and stages are welcome.) There is a speed from leisurely to competitive, so something for everyone. Upon your return, enjoy $1 off your first pint at Fetch. Not into beer? That’s fine, too. We offer wine, soda, water, or feel free to bring in your own non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy. Muskegon County Household Hazardous Waste

Muskegon County Department of Public Works offers a free disposal program to Muskegon County residents for unwanted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) generated in county. Please note that Commercial and Industrial waste is prohibited. The goal of the HHW program is to divert hazardous materials from the landfill in order to protect residents and the environment. Should you possess any of the following materials, the HHW program will dispose of them in a safe and responsible manner.

•Mercury or mercury containing devices (i.e. Compact Florescent Light bulbs, mercury thermometers or thermostats, etc.)
•Petroleum products*
•Automotive Fluids
•Antifreeze
•Pesticides
•Insecticides
…•Herbicides
•Aerosol cans (containing hazardous materials)
•Acids (i.e. Batteries, Muriatic Acid)**
•Bases (i.e. Drain cleaner)
•Alkaline and Rechargeable(Li-Ion, Ni-Cad, etc) batteries. No Lead Acid (Car) batteries are accepted**
•Other products with approval

Celebrate with us at the S’More Summer Festival! Special festivities include: pig races, face painting, dog shows, candy shoot at 5 pm, and Neil Sauter, the Michigan Stiltwalker! But also enjoy lots of activities and family fun, including a corn maze, petting farm with a wide variety of animals and birds! Price is cost of admission.

Museum Day Live at Michigan’s Heritage Park

Michigan’s Heritage Park will be participating in the Smithsonian magazine’s thirteenth annual Museum Day Live! on Saturday September 23, 2017. This initiative encourages participating museums across the United States to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based facilities, which offer free admission every day, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket.

Visitors must have a Museum Day Live! ticket to qualify for free admission. Each ticket is good for 2 free admissions, and you may have one ticket per e-mail.

It is a good idea to allow 1.5-2 hours to visit the park. Picnic areas are provided for those who wish to have a picnic. Pop water and a few snacks are sold in the shop.

Band Practice Jam Session @ Pub One Eleven

Every Sunday now we will have Band Practice/Jam Session at Pub 111 in downtown Whitehall from 5 to 8. Hosted by Phillip Davis, Mark Joyce and Tom Vallejo. All musicians are welcome, especially the younger generation of musicians. This is a great opportunity for you to play in front of some people and to make new friends. All equipment will be provided.
