Friends of the Montague Library Book Talk: Great Lakes Island Escapes by Maureen Dunphy

Over two summer seasons, Maureen Dunphy visited 136 islands in the Great Lakes basin with a friend or relative. She turned her experiences into the travelogue and travel guide Great Lakes Island Escapes: Ferries and Bridges to Adventure (Wayne State University Press, 2016). Her book, which was named to the 2017 Michigan Notable Books List, provides detailed information, including natural, historical, and cultural attractions, about over 80 of the islands that she visited.

She also maintains a blog about the Great Lakes islands (www.greatlakesislandescapes.com).

Ms. Dunphy’s presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served starting at 6:30 pm. Ms. Dunphy’s book will be for sale at the event. She will take audience questions as well as sign books.

The Summer Book Talks series, which will continue each Wednesday through August 2, is sponsored by The Friends of the Montague Library with funding made possible by a grant from The White Lake Community Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. The Montague Branch Library is a part of the Muskegon Area District Library system. All the Book Talks are free and open to the public.
