What better way to ring in the holidays than the 23rd Annual White Lake Holiday Walk! This year’s Holiday Walk will take place during the weekend of November 18 & 19 along the streets of Montague and Whitehall with dozens of participating businesses. Enjoy traditional Christmas Open Houses featuring unique gifts and yummy treats from participating White Lake Area merchants. Share the spirit of Christmas with holiday music and a visit with Santa Claus as you stroll along the streets.
Whitehall will again host the “Tree Lighting Ceremony” at 7:00 pm on North Mears with festive lights. Children of all ages from throughout the area are invited to bring their ornaments to help decorate this Community Christmas Tree. Members and friends of the White Lake Chorale will be leading sing-a-long carols and add to the celebration of the joyous season. The aroma of roasted chestnuts will fill the air along with hundreds of luminaries lining the sidewalks Friday evening. Muskegon Area Regional Connections (MARC), an initiative of Muskegon Area Transit System (MATS) and Consumer’s Energy are the sponsors of complimentary hot chocolate and will have the MARC bus available for all to come and check out! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the MARC bus on Friday night as part of MATS’ Stuff the Bus Campaign!
Old-fashioned carriage rides will once again await you this year, sponsored by Frontier Communications and Muskegon Area Regional Connections (MARC)! Free carriage rides will be available on Friday from 5pm – 8pm and Saturday from 12pm – 3pm in both Montague and Whitehall. Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt and Midstate Title are proud to present complimentary Trolley Rides that will transport and deliver anyone wanting to visit any of the participating businesses in Montague and Whitehall on Saturday from 11am – 3pm. Children will want to check out the make it and take it Christmas crafts at the Nuveen Center in downtown Whitehall also on Saturday from 11am – 2 pm. In addition to children’s activities, Santa will be in various stores ready to visit with kids of all ages. A list of Santa’s stores and times will be found on the Holiday Walk map, which can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce or any participating Holiday Walk stops (look for the big blue sign in the window!).
Adding to the festivities, members of the Whitehall High School Choir members will be caroling in the streets and at participating businesses. The Holiday Market will also be open at the Farmers Market location in Montague with an array of goods and merchandise on Saturday from 10am – 1pm.
Shoppers and passersby are invited to enjoy all the holiday decorations. Participating businesses will host a variety of specialties. Submit a completed map by going into at least 15 of the 24 participating businesses and enter the drawing to win a $50 White Lake Gift Certificate. All ages are sure to enjoy what both Montague and Whitehall have to offer!
