Welcome to the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.

Summer

When summer arrives in Michigan, everyone cheers! The White Lake Area is proud of our long history as a coveted summertime destination — and for good reason!

Come on in, the water’s magnificent.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan, the White Lake Area boasts miles of Great Lakes shoreline, plus freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams galore. Rent kayaks or canoes right here and launch into the White River or White Lake for a day of exploration. Head to a marina and book a fishing charter to catch your very own dinner with family and friends. Or grab a towel and some snacks and spend the day lazing on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. It’s all possible during a White Lake Area summer. Don’t want to get wet?  Experience Lake Michigan’s sandy shoreline from the tower of our White River Light Station for panoramic views you won’t soon forget!

Adventure awakens.

Water activities aren’t the only thing the White Lake Area offers in the summer. This is the season when our bike trails are in their full glory with lush green landscapes and active wildlife.  Head north on the Hart-Montague Trail and enjoy a snack and a bottomless glass of chocolate milk at Country Dairy on the way! Or head south through town on the Fred Meijer Berry Junction Trail for continuous miles of almost endless trails! Pack a picnic and explore our hiking trails or rent bikes for a memorable day trip.

Grab the kiddos and spend the day at Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo. Explore the farm that not only offers over 45 farm fun activities, but where there are over 100 chances to make a new animal friend! For the thrill seekers among us, Michigan’s Adventure offers a day of amusement and water park fun and Muskegon Luge Adventure Park has outdoor activities for children and adults alike, including zip line runs, wheel luge, archery, and Trail Quest.

If your idea of adventure consists of serious shopping, we’ve got you covered! Wander the quaint downtowns of both Montague and Whitehall for unique shopping and explore our farmers market and Artisan Market Village. And when your stomach starts to growl? We’ve got unique places to eat — from fine dining and family establishments to quick eats, quaint delis, and cozy pubs.

Life is all about balance.

Submerge yourself in a world of ease. Unwind and discover local flora and fauna by strolling through one of the many parks or preserves the White Lake Area offers. Spread out a blanket and tap your toes at our Tuesday evening Free Summer Concerts at the Montague Band Shell  or take in a play or live show at White Lake Area’s very own newly renovated theatre The Playhouse at White Lake.  You can thank us later.

Feeling blue?

Blueberry season usually runs from July through September, and sometimes longer! Our local farms welcome you to “pick your own” and enjoy the adventure of a fun farm experience (or purchase fresh berries already picked)!

Our favorite color is sunset

Stake out a sandy spot at your favorite beach and be ready to be amazed. A visit to West Michigan wouldn’t be complete without a sunset and we’ve got ’em.
